Inner Flow

How can we connect with the unseen rhythms of our inner world? What happens when we transform something as automatic as breathing into a medium for creativity and self-reflection?

I began this project by experimenting with various internal signals—reflections, heart rate, and other bodily cues. Each offered intriguing possibilities, but I ultimately chose to focus on breathing. Its universal rhythm and intimate connection to our sense of being make it a powerful medium for observation and play.

Besides a microphone, I added an airflow sensor in a 3D-printed pipe, connecting it to TouchDesigner for more precise breath measurement. I’ve explored breath volume, length, and frequency, each with its own visual representation.

Through this platform, I ask: Can technology help us interact with the most intimate parts of ourselves in ways that feel alive, creative, and meaningful?
